Watch the magnificent spectacle of 33 hectares of grassland transformed into a sea of flames in this annual burning ritual. Heralding the coming spring and attracting thousands of people each year, this event can be traced back to the 18th century, but its true origins are unknown. Due to COVID-19 concerns, visitors are unable to access Mount Wakakusa and related performances have been canceled this year, but will be able admire the scene of the whole of Mt. Wakakusa gradually go up in flames from afar, including via the online livestream.
