This exhibition celebrates the style of Seiji Togo, a prolific painter of the female form active in Japan throughout the 20th century. Togo began his artistic career during his youth and managed to hold his first solo exhibition by the age of 18. In 1921, he continued to refine his technique in France, where he studied Western art for seven years alongside innovative visionaries like Pablo Picasso. Throughout his lifetime, Togo won multiple prestigious awards for his work, including the 1st Showa Western Art Promotion Award and the Japan Art Academy Award. He was also posthumously named a Person of Cultural Merit by the Japanese government following his death at the age of 80. A collection of paintings and murals spanning the duration of his career is on display.
