Join this magnificent spectacle where 33 hectares of grassland is turned into a sea of flames. Heralding the coming spring and attracting millions of people each year, this activity called Wakakusa Yamayaki can be traced back to the 18th century, but its true origin is unknown. Starting with a fireworks display, the whole of Mt. Wakakusa gradually goes up in flames. Before the event, there will be a dance show, a ceremony performed by the Nara fire brigade, and more.
