Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890) is one of the most famous artists of all time—his colorful, dramatic works have reached far beyond his native Netherlands and continue to inspire and influence people around the world. His over 2000 works, most of which were painted in the last two years of his tumultuous life, feature landscapes, still-lifes, and portraits in his unique, kaleidoscopic style. In this exhibition, similar artists who came after Gogh—from the Hague painters who imitated his style, to the Impressionist painters who adopted his striking use of vivid colors—are introduced alongside the famous Dutch painter, showcasing how Gogh’s original style was created and adapted over the years.
