The Museum of Oriental Ceramics, Osaka
This exhibition features the celebrated Chinese ceramics known in Japan as tenmoku tea bowls, highly valued and passed down through generations. Created at the famous Jian kilns, they are considered masterpieces of black-glaze ware. Twenty-four pieces from the Tang, Song and Jin dynasties–encompassing the period between 618 and 1279–are on display. The pieces are from the museum’s regular collection and on loan from private collections.
