With its ultra-fresh sashimi served in bamboo boats with daikon radish and shiso leaves, Gyosho Taka-Aki is a haven for seafood lovers in the center of Kobe. There’s an upstairs and a downstairs and on the way in, there are tanks and boxes brimming with the fruits of the ocean—succulent tuna, creamy sea urchin, and chewy abalone—straight from Kobe’s central fish market. It is also a spot where you can try finely-sliced fugu (pufferfish). One of four restaurants in the Taka-Aki family, this flagship branch also boasts a well-stocked bar.
