Hailing from Manchester, England, this indie-pop-rock four-piece won UK music publication NME’s 2018 Under the Radar Award. Pale Waves was formed in 2014 by university friends Ciara Doran (drums) and Heather Baron-Gracie (vocals and guitar) who were soon joined by guitarist Hugo Silvani and bassist Charlie Wood.
They released their debut album in September of last year and the release quickly became a success breaking into the top 10 on the UK album charts. The band has been tagged with a number of genres including indie-pop, synth-pop, and goth-pop, and cite their influences as ranging from Prince to The Cure. Prior to the release of the album All The Things I Never Said, singer-guitarist Baron-Gracie told Billboard, “I love songs that give you melodies that you can sing at any time, but within those melodies, there are things that break your heart.”
